Circulating ferritin status and metabolic syndrome: A dose-response meta-analysis of 90,000 individuals

  • This is the first dose-response meta-analysis of the correlation between blood ferritin levels and metabolic syndrome, a syndrome of increasing global prevalence.
  • An increase in blood ferritin concentration of 25 ng/ml is associated with a 7% increase in the risk of developing metabolic syndrome.
